Quotes
Add a QuoteNearly headless how can you be nearly headless-Hermione
Something gold was glinting above him. The Snitch! He tried to catch it, but his arms were too heavy. He blinked. It wasn't the Snitch at all. It was a pair of glasses. How strange.--harry potter
"you're gonna get us killed, worse expelled" hermoine granger.
"I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death." - Severus Snape
Alas! Earwax! - Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Dumbledore smiled at the look of amazement on Harry's face. 'To one as young as you, I'm sure it seems incredible, but to Nicholas and Prenelle, it really is like going to bed after a very, very long day. After all, to the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure.'
The common-room was packed and noisy. Everyone was eating the food that had been sent up. Hermione, however, stood alone by the door, waiting for them. There was a very embarrased pause. Then, none of them looking at each other, they all said 'Thanks', and hurried off to get plates. But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.
A breeze ruffled the hedges of Privet Drive, which lay silent and tidy under the inky shy, the very last place you would expect astonishing things to happen. Harry Potter rolled over inside his blankets without waking up. One small hand closed o the letter beside him and he slept on, not knowing he would be woken in a few hours' time by Mrs Dursley's scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley... He couldn't know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: 'To harry Potter - the boy who lived!'

Add a CommentOh geez, I think I have read this series about 8 times. Here I go again!
This book rocks!
The first & one of the best in the Harry Potter Series
Crazy me, but I read this AFTER watching ALL of the mives :$ but I did like it A LOT!!! :D <3 some of my favroute parts weren't there though, because they were only added in the movie :( also, I was kind of shocked to find that it was actually Neville who gets detention rather than Ron.... :O but I loved it over all!!! "She's got to sort out her priorities! "-Ron, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (the movie). :D <3
read it when I was six eleven now and waiting for my letter from Hogwarts
I've already read the series but because I'm nearly obseesed with harry potter I decided eh why not put a hold on it(only reason I started reading harry potter series is had to read phillosphers stone at school I never liked harry potter before but now I'm hooked I even had a dream once that harry was me in the so called muggle world and I was him in hogwarts,it was in the order of pheniox book because sirius black kept poping up there and here
I read this book while listening to the audio at the same time and I while I had thought I had read the book, I really hadn't, as I found passages in the book that I had basically glanced over the first four or five times that I have read this book. I can't exactly recall what I missed, but there were quite a few portions of the book that I clearly had missed as I listened to the book. As to the book, what can't I say? I really enjoyed it and thought the book there was a sense of the magical and the fantastical throughout the book. I read this book as a part of the 2012 Harry Potter Reading Challenge.
The book was pretty boring at first, but it was still intersting to read. I personally feel it trails behind the rest.
I love this book. But I haven't watch the movie yet but I am really excited about watching it soon.
I avoided reading the HP series because of all the hoopla surrounding it. I tend to avoid stuff that is crazy popular and then I get around to reading it and wish I had just read it from the beginning. I did see the first HP movie and loved it so I stopped watching the movies because I knew at some point that I wanted to read the books and I didn't want to spoil them by watching the movies (I can never read the book once I've seen the movie--I need the suspense to propel me forward). Anyway, this book was fantastic and fun and JK Rowling is just so wonderfully creative. The book was also surprisingly emotional, just seeing how Harry was treated by his Aunt, Uncle, and cousin, and how amazing it was for him to be treated well by (most of) his classmates and professors. This book is a great read and I think it's fabulous that this series has encouraged so many children (and adults) to read. I am so happy by the fact that someone created an imaginative series that didn't talk down to kids but rather challenges their reading skills (the idea of children reading a 600+ page book, as some of the later books are in the series, thrills me as a future librarian and someone interested in children's literacy). And the best part is that it's fun and entertaining enough for adults to read too!
