Comment
Add a CommentThis deceptively simple "comic book" hides it's true potential. Within it lies the full abilities of the best of art; expressing emotions, speaking out and healing. While Bryan Talbot simply wanted to write a tail about a homeless girl, he also managed to tap into the ability to connect with others. He addresses a sensitive subject and encourages others not to hide in shame. Through the subtle and gentle illustrations he encourages us all to grow. This encapsulates the power and potential of graphic novels to illustrate real issues in a way that resonates with the human spirit. In addition, the drawings of her pet and the ensuing "Bat rat" tale inspired by Beatrix Potter are adorable.
