CRANK RAGE
not a bad read. slightly hard to read and understand because of the "poetic" format. also much too long for my tastes. even though I myself didn't really like it I'll say that it was a realistic topic which was very well writen about in this book.
I found it pretty difficult to read because of the format it's written in. Maybe only in my case, but I found it extremely tedious to read since it took a while to fully grasp the concept on each and every page since it's similar to poetry. If you can with stand that then I'd say to DEFINITELY read it!!
Amazing book. Reading the rest of the series now. :)
An intense, dark, and very real look into the world of meth. Hopkins twists with your mind, bringing your heart to a stop durng the wild ride that is this book. It causes you to take a deeper look into the sick beauty that is life with the monster. A beautiful portrayal, I would reccomend to even people I don't like. The format of the text may put some off it it really intensifies the story. Do read! If you ever need another reason to stay away from crank, here's the answer. It will change you!
Excellent !!! I loved the format and I am so excited to read more books from Ellen.
Crank is the first in the "CGF" series of Ellen Hopkins books. The triology is a critically acclaimed, fantastic series written in a form of poetry from the point of the view of the protaganist, Kristina Georgia Snow, who refers to herself as Bree. It was Ellen's first full length novel she wrote, based on her own daughters decent into the world of meth and is fantasically written and very real. I definitely suggest reading it, though some points may be too graphic for younger teen audiences.
love it
I read this for my YA library class. It is a story loosely based on the author's own daughter and her struggle with drugs. The book is quite thick, but it is a very fast read and written to look like poetry. I anticipate reading the two sequels. (Oct 2011) Kudos to you, Kayla! :-D
