Add a CommentAll in all a very cheesy book- the characters were very distorted from Jane Austen's masterpiece; Mr Darcy is not a hopeless romantic! So, although a creative enough variation, I found it to be slow, insipid and written in a rather dull style. I picked it up on impulse but will not be reading another! My advice is to stick to the original as it has much greater depth.
This is a wonderful book that is full of entertaining characters and surprises that will keep you reading until the end.
This book was fine, but not great. I hated that Jane had to marry a shopkeeper after Mr. Bennett died. (No, that's not a spoiler--you find out in the first few pages.) What's nice about Pride and Prejudice is that it's a realistic kind of fairy tale. This one is less realistic: What are the chances that Mr. Darcy will see servants much differently than he does? It's as if the author wants to give him characteristics we would expect of someone in today's society.
