Notices
Add a NoticeCoarse Language: "I'm the Goddamn Batman!"
Sexual Content: Many scenes with scantily-clad, voluptuous women, a possible sex scene.
Violence: A fair amount of blood and flying teeth due to numerous characters getting hit or punched in the face. The part with the Joker is rather disturbing.
Coarse Language: None of the major curse words, but definitely language that ranges from mild to moderate.
Sexual Content: I wouldn't say that there is any of this, but if you don't like seeing Vicki Vale in a bra then this is not the book for you. That's on the second page by the way, impossible to miss. Black Canary's suit is a little bit revealing at the top, along with Wonder Woman, but nothing to wild. Not that much suggestive content though, just a lot of people getting beaten up.
Violence: A few people get pretty banged up. Blood flies, along with teeth, a few people get shot, a few catch on fire, and a lot get beaten up pretty badly about 80% of them are beaten up by Batman, the other 20% by Black Canary, Robin, and The Joker.
Coarse Language: Yeah, some course language alright. Mostly Batman swearing all the time, he's pretty wild in this. But no F-words. Just look at the quotes and you'll get a sense of what it's like.

You're the goddamn Batman and you have yourself a goddamn car?" -Batman "Sure I do. I'm not the one who can fly. Although that idiot doesn't even know he can fly... Bat-Mobile. Find me." -Bat-Mobile "Very good sir. Right away, sir." -Black Canary "Bat-Mobile...?" -Batman "Not one word. I've taken enough grief about calling my goddamn car the goddamn BatMobile. I'm the goddamn Batman and I can my goddamn car whatever the hell I want to call it."

Comment
Add a CommentAs an alternate universe, I found this story intriguing. I liked how everything was switched around and backwards from canon. The fact alone that Batman laughs and Joker doesn't is proof enough of the craziness of this book. I also enjoyed the humor of Batman's attitude, and the raw emotion you felt from him, especially at the very end. But, if anything, you should read this purely for crazy!Batman trolling idiotic!Hal Jordon, in what I like to call "The Yellow Section" of the book, where Batman and Robin paint an entire room, and themselves, yellow so that Green Lantern can't touch them.
In the words of my little brother "That's not Batman. Its crazy hobo Steve. He somehow managed to knock Batman unconcious and steal the keys to the Batcave."
Frankly, it's so ridiculous that it's awesome. Read it if you want a laugh, but don't make a mistake and actually take it seriously.
Finally, I've finished this book. When I picked this one up from the library I had no idea it would be this crazy. The story was very good, I enjoyed it a lot, the characters were good, including the scruffy Batman, and I think I might have to continue reading the series. Although seeing Batman as a scruffy, crazed and quiet violent was pretty shocking. I did like this book, and I thought it was put together very well, it just had a lot of swearing and a lot of people get beaten up along the way. With all that in mind I'm giving it a solid 8.5/10, good but not my favorite Batman book.
Let me start by saying honestly that I was not impressed with Frank Miller's Batman. The guy was a psycho - the manical laughter, the accents, the magically appearing stubble - none of that was remotely like the Batman I'm familiar with. Robin I did like in this, since he wasn't annoying or whiny. The rest of the characters are also highly questionable; Wonder Woman is a man-hating crusader, Superman is a confused and dim-witted superhero, and Alfred without the shirt... I'm still getting over that. All of that aside, the story was a decent one, though I would've enjoyed it more without the constant knocked-out teeth flying through the pages and the language.
