I really enjoyed the book! The story itself is just a story that you can literally leave your life behind and dive into! I noticed that while I and the other members of White Pine were reading it, some people called it far fetched. But I have heard of places it happens, So it was interesting to read what you might call "A day in the life." I haven't read the book in a year but now that I think about it, I'm gonna go read it again!! I would recommend this book to anyone!
I really enjoyed the novel, until I read the epilouge. The book in its self was good I felt that the epilouge messed with the books ending.
A really good book and a must read!!! A real eye opener too :D
i haven't completely finished this book , but from what i've read so far , i'm really liking it ! i'm learning about the ways of their religion. i find it quite fascinating that they've been able to keep their town hidden away from their country for so long.
This book was great, and the characters were very relatable. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a compelling and heartfelt book!
What a lovely book this was. It begins with a girl living in a polygamist community. She has no choice but to accept her future as it is, but inside of her, she rebels against this idea. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading fiction. Anyone who enjoy to think, and new ideas and ways of thinking should read this book.
This book got me really interested in Mormon communities, a great book. I didn't find the story strong but I learned so much from this book.
I very much enjoyed reading this novel because it was very interesting and got you thinking. Polygamist communities put so much pressure on such young girls and force them to marry a much older man they did not choose to marry. This novel made me angry because it is unbelievable that people in the world actually practice polygamy. All of the girls in this novel lack one of the most important things needed for life-freedom. They had no options and were told how to live their life. These girls also had no individuality. One of my favorite things about this book is how it was divided into 3 parts, the three main characters- Celeste, Taviana and Nanette. I believe Celeste was the bravest character because she stood up for what she wanted which is probably what many other girls in the community were to afraid to do. She fought for freedom and choice for herself. Overall, I loved this book. It was interesting and I finished reading it in about 3 days because I didn't want to stop reading! I strongly advise people to read this book.
I believe that this book was very heartwarming and compelling. It impacted me emotionally because now that i look at it, tere really are communities that believe in polygamy. Just imagine the young girls who have to have such a responsibility at a young age. Yes, they may believe that it is their way to reach Heaven and be connected with God but there are other religions that may connect you with God that don't have to deal with polygamy.I enjoyed how the book was divided into three characters. The reason why is because I was able to be more open-minded and understanding why or why not people would follow the religious principles. On the other hand, I would like to say that Taviana was my favourite character because she was very independant and confident in herself. She was willing to live and survive on her own which made her strong. I would highly recommend this book to others, it was a pleasure reading it.
