Add a CommentThe manner in which this story is told is in flashbacks. It is hard to tell a story backwards but this book managed to do it really well whilst concealing the true ending until the very last page. Although I did not agree with the characters decision at the end one has to respect it and her. Well written characters, a well written story that tugs at your emotions and a forged connection with all the characters that makes you laugh, cry and fight with and for them to the very end and beyond.
i think this book was okay it didn't really keep you interested through out the entire book. It has many moments where you drift off because of the over use of detail for things that weren't very important to the story. Other then that the story is pretty good.
This book was amazing it taught me so much about valueing life
i bought the first and second book and i have to say, this was a wonderful series. i want to recommend this book to all of u because it talks about love, friendship, family, living, dying, meaning, and remembering. loved this book and the second book!!!!
Beautifully written. The story digs deep into the core of your heart that makes you want to cry for hours. Gayle Forman has written the most beautiful story about loss and love. Something most of the world is still trying to understand for themselves.
It gave me a new perspective to look on things.
Seventeen year old Mia, a wonderful cellist has everything she ever wanted. Free spirited parents, a loving boyfriend, an innocent brother, a trust worthy best friend, and a normal life like any other Oregon girl. But after a family road trip her life changes. In a coma, and hospitalized for quite some time, she remembers the times like before when everything was normal. This realistic fiction book was not the best. But it wasn’t horrible. The way the author wrote was great, and I was really sad for Mia, but this book mainly justs describes her life before the accident. I would recommend this to anyone fourteen or older. I don’t know any other similar books.
best book ever :D i read in one sitting and cried. i cried. and still am mourning after an hour of reading. cant wait for the next book. I NEED TO READ IT AN SEE WAT HAPPENS!!! I RECOMMEND IT ALOT :D
This is NOT what I expected it to be when I first picked it up but it is one of those books that opens up tons of new perspectives. :)
This one is hard to critique. Positives are: good writing, faced-paced start, interesting and I felt soo satisfied at the end. I don't always feel emotional but I did cry with this book. The characters felt real and well-developed. BUT... there were plot issues such as 65-70% of the story was ALL backstory. I guess that says something about the author if she can keep a reader interested even after spending so much time in the past. and barely any in present action. We see about as much present-time as we usually see of backstory in a normal novel. As mentioned above, one of the pluses is that this develops characters well; I loved most of them. Another plot issue was that one character devises a cliche, unrealistic and unnecessary plan to see someone else. All he had to do was ask to see the person and he would have been right. I think this was the author's way of creating a 'failed attempt' to up the tension. It annoyed me and I almost put the book down because my brain is fully functional and I understand that isn't realistic. But I stuck with the book and if I overlook that section and appreciate the tonne of backstory, it came together well and had a great emotional ending.
