Summaries
Add a SummaryThe back: Riding a bike is only one of the many things Auden's missed out on. Even before her parents divorce, she was cast in the role of little adult, never making waves, focusing on academics to please her demanding mother. Now she's spending the summer before college in the tiny beach town of Colby with her father and his new wife and baby. A job in a trendy boutique introduces her to the world of girls, their friendships, conversations, romances. And then there's Eli, an intriguing loner. A former star on the bike circuit and a fellow insomniac, Eli introduces Auden to the nocturnal world of Colby. Together they embark on a quest: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she's been denied; for Eli, to put a tragic episode behind him. Combine two lonely people with a charming beach town and endless supply of long sumer nights, and just about anything can happen.
Auden West breaks up with her boyfriend Jason because he thinks she's not taking enough dedication to his library job, and because she disclosed an email with I love you. She than moves in with her Dad, step mom Heidi and newborn little Sister Thisbe. Where she is thrown into the world of Girls, Boys, Jealous Ex's, Biking, A quest for her childhood back, and Romance. Will she end up with Eli? Read the book to find out.
Quotes
Add a QuoteI sat down on my bed, looking out at the beach below. There were a lot of things about being here that I did not understand. And I was okay with that. But the wave machine? It drove me nuts.

Add a CommentThis book was pretty good. I really liked the relationship between Eli and Auden. Eli being so mysterious and what not. Auden just trying to have some fun. A really good read in my opinion
Don't get me wrong but i found it very slow giving the impression it's not in depth and boring. I am currently still reading but it's not like other books that i read which i can't wait to finish ;I am not that excited to read Along For the RIde. It took me a lot of thought if i should read it or not and it turns out i should of left it 'cas i'm stuck with it until i read it 'till the end. For those of you who wants this to be worth your time, i suggess you don't read this but it might be a good read for you if you have enough patience and could tolerate a slow paced book. Sorry to those who loves this book so don't take my opinion too seriously. But for those who want to read this book and considered my opinion, just read it and then you can judge if it's as awesome as they say.
This book was a really good read. It showed how one summer can change you, and sometimes you have to look in the strangest places to find that someone! It also showed that we live in a world of second chances, and we shouldn't try and stop fate from telling us what we should do. I love the relationship between Eli and Auden: they are so different, yet so similar!! This book is definately a must-read for teen girls
This is a simply amazing book. The first time I read it, I simply did not find the depth in it. As I read it a second time, just recently, I realized how much Sarah Dessen really makes this book realistic! The dialogue is like she scooped it out of my friends' mouths and slopped it onto her page! I love the story of Eli and Auden--an atypical relationship. It's not an Edward-and-Bella type of story--helpless girl is saved by dashing hero. Sarah Dessen is much classier than that. Eli is a quiet boy with a depressing past. Auden is a scholarly girl who has never gotten to live her life. When Auden spends the summer with her dad and her stepmom Heidi, she meets Eli and the rest of the girls in small-town Colby. She and Eli bond over a common factor--the night. Eli and Auden embark on a quest to make up for all the things Auden has missed. From bowling to going to parties, Auden slowly begins to realize that--hey, maybe her life doesn't always have to be academics, like her rigid mother has always told her. Maybe she can have fun every once in a while. I know I certainly had fun reading this--it's clean, innocent, and refreshingly beautiful. Quite a departure from the vampire romance books of the present. I absolutely LOVE Sarah Dessen, and she is definitely one of the BEST authors around. Read this book if you haven't!
I Received a free copy from Sarah Dessen because I had won a online contest. Anyway I loved the book it is very amazing!
Dessen's ability to so accurately describe the feeling of potential that always comes with summer is delightful. Ignoring all of her family issues, Auden was a character I could really identify with as she's spent all of high school exclusively focused on academics and has sort of missed out on much of the more social aspects of those years. The family drama that happens around Auden gives her far more depth and Dessen uses them to make some truly brilliant insights into life and relationships. Of course, Auden and Eli's relationship is delightful and their many night-time adventures are entertaining and sweet with just the right dash of romantic potential. A beautiful novel that explores how family and friendships can truly change us and reminds us that it is never too late to have all of the experiences life offers us, I enjoyed every page.
First Sarah Dessen read. Great book! Perfect summer romance about a shy girl finding her way in the real world with the help of some new friends.
Another awesome sarah dessen book!
First Sarah Dessen book and I loved it. Why can't all authors be like her?
I LOVED LOVED this book it`d my all time favorite Sarah Dessen book SO far. It`s my 5th Sarah Dessen book, I love this low key LOVE. It`s not completely crazy drastic, like I`ll jump off a cliff if you dump me but it`s not a small shy smile either. It`s the perfect combination. I Love Eli and Auden. Especially the`re special trips late at night. I LOVE all the characters in this book and that`s rare.
