Add a CommentWhat an interesting life. Insight on what drove him and his talent and how it helped him develop into the interesting adult he is today. Fasinating autobiography - even if, like me, you know nothing about tennis.
Agassi probably could not have written this very readable biography without a lot of help; but yes, it's a page-turner.

This book is a good insight into the life of a world class athelete. I could not put it down. Would recommend this to anyone regardless if you like tennis or not!
I opened this book so you could say i am one of the openers
One of the best autobiographies I've ever read. Written in a very interesting tone. If you are a follower of tennis, it is an even better read as there are some very telling stories about Agassi as well as many players in his time. If you are not a follower of tennis it is still a nicely constructed masterpiece.
I loved this book! It was a compelling read that I could not find the strength to put down for a second. The details about his relashonship with tennis ar by far the most interesting and surprising, but this doesn't take away from an other parts of this book. A great read.
Just amazing! Not to be confused as a book for tennis fans only, anyone can admire, and learn from, Andre's life as so eloquently conveyed in this wonderful book. Highly recommended for everyone!
I really enjoyed this book. Amazing what he was thinking during his matches.
As my rating suggests: I really liked this book. After listening to Fresh Air and Terry Gross' interview with Andre, I was certainly intrigued but hesitant, thinking, "how could this autobiography possibly be so good?" Well, it is. Andre is frank, sensitive, exciting, depressing and puzzling throughout and does a marvelous job interspersing sports writing with personal narrative. Details regarding his relationship with Brooke, his introduction to Steffi, struggles with his father, hatred of tennis, yes hatred, and even obsession with junk food, are all revealed along with his rivalry with Pete and meeting with Nelson Mandela. I loved his relationship with Gil, his personal trainer, and anguished over so many of his growing pains, relating to so much, and finding pain and comfort in his struggle. I highly recommend this title and wish every day since I've read it, that you bet, Andre and I, are/were best friends! haha! This is a great read about a wonderful human being with a kind, generous and tender soul.
