The biggest thing that made me really dislike this book was the way I felt the author was making , me, the reader feel stupid. The way she kept over explaining the symbolisms and the story and continued to tell us over and over again how fully and completely the two main characters were in love was belittling. Never once did she let us figure it out on our own, draw our own conclusions or get excited about an unknown turn. There was no trust in our ability to understand, and enjoy the writing. In addition I detested the idea that even though the male lead knew (because it had happened before) that he would hurt Luce if he got close to her, he still stayed giving in to his love/lust. I find that this action spoke volumes more than all the love speeches he gave afterwards. If he had truely loved her in the complete way that he keeps telling us he does then he would do everything in his power to stay away from her. He would not make excuses saying that she was the one following him, and he would take action if they did stumble aross eachother. Therefore I felt that the love on which the plot, characters and story were built on was nothing but a flimsy foundation that caved in the moment any real weight was placed on it. I did not like this book and I would not recommend it to anyone.

This book was amazing. I couldn't put it down. Literally! I took it to the dinner table, on my errands and even to my *private* business. I can't wait until I read the next one!

How is this worse than Twilight? twilight was a horribly written piece of garbage that gives an awful rolemodel of male/female relationships. This book has an even stupider plot than Twilight. this is the kind of book where the back jacket gives away stuff you don't find out until page 350. Parents, if your kid is reading YA crap like this then go and buy The Hunger Games for them. Or The Catcher im the Rye. or get them an iphone with angry birds or something. this is the kind of book that leaves you stupider than when you first opened it. tweens: you might love this book during the mad rush of hormones and chemicals in your brain, but this is a crap book that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. in five years you're going to be so embarassed you like this. :(

Entertaining teen angst, fallen angel boyfriend over multiple lives, and on and on, book one in a series of three. Sounds familiar, but, of course, I'm not ashamed to say, I enjoyed it.

I also found the obsession with Daniel in this book a tad tiresome. I found that the book became a little dry because of it. All in all, it was well written, but I find the Lucy character to be quite annoying.

After a devastating fire, Luce is pulled out of her high-achieving prep school and deposited within the rusted gates of Sword and Cross reform school in Georgia. Really you would think her parents would have checked the place out first. I found it hard to believe any parent would allow their kids to attend a run down creepy school like this. Though plagued by visions of lurking shadows and the unexplained death of her classmate, Luce starts making both friends and enemies and drawing the attention (both good and bad) of two guys. Despite his cold behavior, Luce is inexplicably drawn to Daniel, and she slowly finds herself on a path of discovery about her past and her potentially devastating future.
