Add a CommentThis book was fine the begining was a little slow...and boring but it gets better, and I would say that this is made for kids over 12 but below 14...maybe it's just my opinion :)
i think the book was ok.. but it wasn't very amusing
This book is not all that great. The notion of putting a modern twist on the salem witch trials is an interesting one, but in the manner they tried to comethrough with it is disappointing. the chapters were too short and though they tried to make it interesting, it just wasn't all that interesting. This book is great for a 12 or 13 year old, but for anyone above it is a let down and a boring read. I do not reccomend this book.
I could forgive the author for the books ridiculously short chapters and terrible slang if it were at least interesting or had a good plotline. The plot had far too many gaps and uncertainties, the most being that half of this book was way too far-fetched. Basically the plot states that some group bent on conquering multiple worlds can take power in the U.S. and can imprison and kill whoever they want freely all the while the rest of the world is completely blind to it. The characters were also very flat and uninteresting, I felt myself not caring at all for them anywhere in the train-wreck the author had the audacity to call a plot. The only somewhat bearable thing about it is the writing but definitely does not make up for the shambled mess of this novel. I admit that it did get slightly interesting near the ending but failed to take off yet again. The ending in no way wrapped up the story or made an effort to get readers interested in the sequel and most importantly the epilogue was not explained. ONe of my friends also pointed out to me that one of the characters alcoholism was referred to once in the beginning but the author failed to elaborate on it. If this was James Patterson's debut novel I doubt it would've been published at all. If you are reading this unsure of whether to give this book a try or not then trust me that your time is better spent on other things. If I could go back in time I would prevent myself from reading this and move on to one of the countless novels better than this pathetic, unintelligent and unimaginative mess.
I haven't read even a quarter of the book yet. I've only read approximately 3 chapters from a friend who has the book. But what I can say is that I have totally fallen in love with the book. The plot is a very creative idea. A 21st century twist on the Salem Witch Trials is a very unique idea. Different authors have different writing styles, some may use short chapters while others use long ones. It depends who wrote the book. I really enjoy reading novels with a futuristic society. And now that I just found out there is a second book I am thrilled! I for one can not wait to start reading this one.
Didn't like the writing style or characters very much. It was pretty corny, and isn't really a great read for anyone over 14.
I hated this book. The spells were bad, the plot too thin, and the jokes weren't even funny. A real disappointment for Maximum Ride fans.
it was that bad huh
So I take it from all these comments its not really a good book?
Amazing book, I loved it!
