EPL Picks - Best of 2011 - Freegal Finds

Annotation:Everything from The Strokes, from Angles on down...

Annotation:Debut recording for Glenn Gould and one of the best-selling classical piano albums of all time. Still an essential part of a well-rounded music collection.

Annotation:This is one of those oddities that I was pleasantly surprised to find in freegal. Kadri Gopalnath is a player of Carnatic saxophone and this is a great place to start if you've never experienced Indian classical music on this instrument.

Annotation:Freegal has tons of Avett Brothers stuff. Tuneful, creative country music that I can never get enough of.

Annotation:At the very least you need to have "Walk This Way" in your collection...

Annotation:A jazz landmark, "hard bop" from this trumpeter and fusion pioneer. Freegal is great for vintage jazz. Other artists to look out for include Bud Powell, Miles Davis, and Oscar Peterson.

Annotation:How did Flipper ever get any kind of major label distribution? Incredible!

Annotation:Fela was a giant in the musical world and freegal has pretty much everything he ever released. Wondering where to start? The Best of...

Annotation:One of the great "new wave" bands from the much-maligned 80s. Pretty well all of their output is great, transcending the "one hit wonder" that the mainstream press tagged them with after the success of "Pretty in Pink".

Annotation:It's London Calling, man, and if you don't have it yet, you know you should. Plus everything else the Clash ever released, all from freegal.
