Description

Head down to Edmonton's, Snow Valley Ski Club to take in FREE concert with music and poetry. Listen to artists from EPL's Capital City Records and Capital City Press as they share their work at the bottom of the ski hill in the beautiful Rainbow Valley.

On Aug 16, we will host musician Olivia Rose and poets Skye Haggerty and Myrna Garanis from our Capital City Press Anthology.

Olivia Rose:

Growing up in her hometown Elk Point, Alberta, Olivia Rose took inspiration from country legend Dolly Parton, along with influences of current superstars Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. After her adopted city honoured her with the title of Edmonton Music Awards’ Rising Star Award for two consecutive years, Olivia Rose went on to participate as a Finalist in the intensive Project WILD competition in 2018. A nomination for Country Recording of the Year in the 2019 EMAs followed, as well as a Rising Star nomination at the 2020 Country Music Alberta Awards and attendance at artist development program, Canada’s Music Incubator in Toronto.

After garnering over 124,000 streams on Spotify as well as spots on editorial playlists “Live Country” and “Down Home Country” with her single “Put It Like That,” Olivia Rose has a brand new single titled “Truck Boi’ set to release July 25th, 2022.

Skye Haggerty:
Skye Haggerty is a Métis writer from the bush, north of amiskwaciwâskahikan. As the grandchild of an artisan, her childhood was spent dabbling in various crafts and gathering materials from nature. Despite relocating to the city, not much has changed in this regard and her various pursuits seem to always find her wandering the muskeg of memory.

Myrna Garanis:
Myrna Garanis is an Edmonton poet-essayist. She is a member of the Edmonton Stroll of Poets, the Writers’ Guild of Alberta and the Saskatchewan Writers Guild. She has inherited her mother’s collection of Elvis Presley gospel LPs.

Event is free and there is food and drink for sale on-site.
