Description

Navigating the Rivers of Grief at EPL is an eight week series that begins with Roads to Healing and continues with the seven-session series, Navigating the Rivers of Grief. This series is facilitated by a grief specialist from the Edmonton Healing Centre.

Roads to Healing is an introductory meeting that explores common experiences and aspects of grief, as well as some hidden and misunderstood facets of what happens when we are grieving. Participants learn basic tools for self-care; how best to support yourself through this deeply painful time. This meeting also provides a supportive introduction to the Navigating the Rivers of Grief series. It is an opportunity to meet the facilitator and other group members and to see if the group is a good fit.

Navigating the Rivers of Grief consists of seven, two-hour sessions run over consecutive weeks—as a continuation of Roads to Healing. Participants receive support, self-care tools and a better understanding of their grief journey. In Navigating the Rivers of Grief, participants explore their grief experience through sharing, activities and mindfulness practices. This is a closed group where participants commit to attending all sessions as this greatly supports group cohesion and individual process.
