Energy Talks: What do we know about Green Hydrogen?

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Strathcona

Description

This talk will focus on green hydrogen, the clean energy carrier that's making waves in our journey for a sustainable future. In this talk, we'll explore what green hydrogen is, how it is produced through the environmentally friendly process of electrolysis using renewable energy sources or photolysis, and why it is considered a key player in reducing carbon emissions across various industries. Discover the challenges, potential applications, and the current state of technology and infrastructure required to implement green hydrogen solutions globally.

Dr. Shiva Mohajernia is an Assistant Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. Prior to joining U of A, she worked as a catalysis group leader at the Chemistry & Structure of Novel Materials Institute in Germany. In 2020, Dr. Mohajernia earned her Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, also in Germany. She is leading the Energy Materials Research Group (NRGMATs) at the Faculty of Engineering. Her group's research focus is on novel material development for green H2 production.

Energy Talks is a speaker series presented in partnership with Future Energy Systems. They focus on multidisciplinary research that develops the energy technologies of today and the near future, integrates them into today’s infrastructure, and examines possible consequences for our society, economy, and environment. Energy Talks provides an opportunity for you to engage with researchers and learn more about their work. Visit their website for more information: https://www.futureenergysystems.ca/
