Summer Starts at EPL: The Shape of a Story - How Plots Work

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Jasper Place

Description

This interactive workshop will help demystify the structure of fiction — we know stories need a beginning, middle, and end, but how do authors build strong plots out of these three components? What would a plot look like if we drew it out? How can visuals help us improve our stories and make them easier and more fun to write? Join Writer in Residence Premee Mohamed to learn how to shape your story.

Premee Mohamed is a Nebula, World Fantasy, and Aurora award-winning Indo-Caribbean scientist and speculative fiction author based in Edmonton, Alberta. She has also been a finalist for the Hugo, Ignyte, British Fantasy, and Crawford awards. She is an Assistant Editor at the short fiction audio venue Escape Pod and the author of the Beneath the Rising series of novels as well as several novellas. Her short fiction has appeared in many venues and she can be found on her website at www.premeemohamed.com. Some of her upcoming books in 2024 include The Butcher of the Forest with Tor and The Siege Of Burning Grass with Solaris Books.

This is a registered program with a limit of 25 participants. Participants should bring something to write on (notebook, laptop, etc.).
