Chef Amara Yamamoto grew up with a love for baking and started her journey in the culinary world at the age of 13 selling pies to family and friends. Following her passion for baking she attended pastry school at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. That is where she developed a basic knowledge of making classic French pastries, chocolate, bread, and sugar sculpting. After receiving her diploma she completed an internship at a Michelin starred restaurant inside a Palace hotel and then proceeded to work at several patisseries. More recently, she expanded her bread making skills by attending classes at the San Francisco Baking Institute learning to make naturally leavened breads using wild yeast, otherwise known as sourdough. Chef Amara has been involved in several bakery startups and she has been creating desserts and pastries for local Edmonton restaurants- teaching staff how to replicate her recipes. In the past two years she has been sharing her baking knowledge in a series of in-home based lessons. Follow her on Instagram!
