Mila is a writer and visual artist of Philippine heritage based in Edmonton, Alberta. Her work touches on the subject of immigration, migrant workers, and a sense of home and belonging. Her artworks are visual representations of poetry centering on the forced displacement of immigrants and migrant workers. She depicts the stories of those who left their home countries and families for other places with better employment opportunities. Why do people from the global south have to be uprooted? How does this impact their sense of identity and belonging? These questions have always informed Mila’s art.
Her artwork will be on display at the Mill Woods Branch from September 2024 - November 2024.
