Join Juan Vargas Alba, Luisa Da Silva and Markham Hislop as they discuss their research, advocacy and other work surrounding energy transition in Alberta.

Juan Vargas Alba is Prairie Organizer at Climate Emergency Unit and based in Edmonton on Treaty 6 territory. Through organizations like Climate Justice Edmonton, Juan has engaged with hundreds of Albertans about a just transition, mobility justice, and worker-oriented municipal advocacy. 

Luisa Da Silva is the Executive Director of Iron and Earth. She has extensive experience in oil and gas and mining, education, and conservation, is a professional Geoscientist by trade, and holds a BSc and MBA.

Markham Hislop is a Canadian journalist and CEO of Energi Media, one of Canada's top independent news organizations, which is now celebrating its 17th year.

This event will be moderated by Jessica Ng, host of CBC Edmonton's afternoon drive show, Radio Active. Jessica has been part of live broadcasts at the JUNO Awards Red Carpet and the Edmonton Folk Music Festival and was recently part of a team that received a Radio Television Digital News Association award for their coverage of the 2023 Alberta provincial election.
