Conversations with the Department of Neuroscience: FAST, Smart and Strong - Understanding Stroke and How To Prevent It

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Description

Join the University of Alberta's Department of Clinical Neurosciences for a conversation about their research and practice.

Stroke is the leading cause of long-term disability worldwide and a major health concern in Canada. This talk aims to help community members understand what a stroke is, how to recognize the warning signs quickly, and—most importantly—what practical steps they can take in everyday life to reduce their risk.

Dr. Rezan Ashayeri completed her neurology training in 2019 in Iran and her stroke fellowship in 2025 at the University of Alberta. She currently works as a neurologist caring for patients with stroke and other neurological conditions at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic, University of Alberta Hospital, and Royal Alexandra Hospital. She also teaches medical students at the University of Alberta and is involved in research focused on improving stroke prevention strategies and trial of new treatments.

Please note that the purpose of this presentation is to provide general information and current research findings. Doctors cannot comment on or answer questions about individual cases or concerns.
