Description

In this hands-on class, you'll learn the fundamentals of 3D printing design while creating your own planter. Perfect for beginners and people with some 3D printing experience, this course will walk you through the entire process — from designing a planter using Onshape, a user-friendly 3D modeling software, to preparing your file for 3D printing. You'll gain skills in digital design, how to create designs for 3D printing, and how to prepare the design to print successfully. By the end of the class, you'll have created a personalized planter and the confidence to tackle future 3D printing projects!

  • Understand the basics of Onshape, a 3D modeling software and design principles for 3D printing.
  • Learn how to create a simple, unique planter design step-by-step.
  • Prepare your 3D design file for printing, including exporting in the correct file format.
  • Some discussion on how to set up and operate a 3D printer for successful prints.

No prior experience with 3D printing or design is required. No Certification is required. This class is ideal for beginners eager to learn the basics of 3D design.

NOTE: This is a 3D design class. You will not be printing your planter during the class. You do not need the 3D Printing 101 Certification to attend this class.

Your planter will be printed after the class by Makerspace staff. It will be available for pick-up within 2 weeks of the class.

REGISTRATION STARTS ON APRIL 22 AT 9AM.

REGISTRATION IS VIA ZEFFY.

THERE IS A $10 COST FOR THIS CLASS. ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED.
