Great main characters but a very lousy, ridiculous script. After a catchy beginning, the movie soon deteriorates to the point of becoming very silly and quite boring. Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant (he's just so debonaire as usual) could be a…

Lovely, cute movie.

I only watched this because it's mentioned in my all time favorite movie "Sleepless in Seattle". It doesn't live up to the hype at all. I've seen it many times since then and I like it a little more than I did initially, but sadly I will…

A real tearjerker. My mom cries every time. 😢

It is a bit dated (produced in 1957) but the two stars give excellent performances and the director and cinematographer did a great job. We don't see such witty conversations in films these days, mores the pity. I particularly enjoyed the…

A chick flick. This is the movie referred to in 'Sleepless in Seattle' comedy. I found it unrealistic & sappy. It was old 1950s Hollywood fantasy of what romance is..it was just ok movie.

A truly great first half with two wonderful stars. Unfortunately, the second half drags and gets more than a bit soapy and McCarey just couldn’t seem to resist throwing in the overtly cute kids that worked so well in Going My Way (earlier…

Many movies have tried to give a vivid portrayal of romance; many have tried to give the idea of true love between two characters on the silver screen. However, “An Affair to Remember” accomplishes this feat better than many of the other…

A surprisingly beautiful film centered on two individuals (both involved with other people) who meet and fall in love aboard a ship.

Although I'm not a big fan of Cary Grant and I don't usually watch "remakes," I really liked this one a lot better than the original.

What is there to say ..... besides ...... one of the best movies of all time.

This movie is the only remake that I have enjoyed more than the original. If you want to see the original movie, it is called Love Affair and stars Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer.

A classic tear-jerker of a love story in which two people--though both engaged to others--fall in love on an ocean-crossing and face a number of hurdles (some obvious, and some unexpected) in their efforts to be together. I am not…

I do not understand why this movie is considered a "classic love story." I love both Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant, and normally I love classic films. But this one I cannot stand. I don't like love stories where the main characters start out…

VERY GOOD 1957 love story with great acting by handsome Cary Grant and fab beautiful Scots redhead Deborah Kerr in this classic romantic film. I did particularly enjoy the visit to Grandma's. Seems I've seen that villa and the view to…

With its lush widescreen cinematography, rich technicolor sets and bubbling dialogue, Leo McCarey’s film certainly starts out with a romantic flair. Grant and Kerr’s sparkling repartee, moving from capricious banter to lovestruck…

:The casting of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr was a fantastic idea of director Leo McCarey. Not only did he direct the film but he wrote the screenplay with Delmar Daves. Cary Grant plays a playboy named Nick Ferrante. He is already…

A truly endearing classic from McCarey with Grant and Kerr at their best.

One of my favourites. Great dialogue and beautiful settings. Two beautiful actors together. Only for the true romantic.

This one is supposed to be a classic tale of timeless love or some such nonsense? I found it to be tedious and pokily paced with a dull, drab, who cares? script. Just awful! Robert Q. (I wonder what the Q is for?)Lewis should have been the…

It's worth watching this and following it up with "Sleepless in Seattle". You'll appreciate both films more it you do.

I prefer the original Love Affair (1939). The lines and acting seemed to flow more easily. I highly recommend watching the original if you did or didn't enjoy An Affair to Remember. They were both directed by Leo McCarey.

You watch this movie for two reasons: Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. The first half is rather witty; the second half devolves into a heavy duty tear jerker. But the two stars make the movie worthwhile.

I really enjoyed this - it was much funnier than I expected, and much less melodramatic. It has aged well.
