If you have time watch it again with the director Sidney Lumet's commentary and it'll provide insight to the differing styles of cinematography throughout the film. Also he didn't think of the story as satire but as reportage.

A 1976 classic that hasn't lost any of its satirical bite as it prophesied reality TV. Perfectly acted and produced, it shows how a network's corporate politics can exploit populist discontent and even violence to get higher ratings. …

Quite forward thinking.

Very profound movie with great acting. A little too real in today's times where news anchors and outlets are more preoccupied with viewership and idolization than journalistic integrity.

Peter Finch is an anchorman who goes nuts during an evening report only to discover that the ratings spike is good for his career, and William Holden and Faye Dunaway are the executives who bicker over how to take advantage of his…

So good! A true gem. I can't believe I hadn't watched it, in full, previously. No wonder there is a long hold time for this movie at the public library. It is not only a comedy in the way that Dr. Strangelove is a comedy (i.e. you squirm…

Another movie that I have not seen in three decades. Would it be as good as I remembered? Would "Network" be as relevant now as it was almost 50 years ago? In a word "Yes!" Although I'm sure the creators this masterpiece would not realize…

Absolutely incredible, visionary movie. While it is classified as a political parody/satire, it is much more than that. I think the central point of the movie is expressed in this monologue: Movie Speech from Network - Arthur Jensen…

I was chatting with my brother about Trump disappearing to Mar-A-Lago & UK's Big Baby balloon. In the background was rolling "Network". Robert Duvall was saying, 'Are you suggesting I put an irresponsible, possiibly mad man on the air' ?…

Network, the story of a news anchor gone mad and a station desperate for ratings, is one of the greatest films ever made. Halfway between a drama and a black comedy, Network offers an outstanding story and phenomenal acting. This is one of…

An amazing movie with a focus that is relevant to this day.

Millennials, please watch this movie! Yes, it's dated, but it may help you understand that Boomers have been dealing with issues not that different from those you're currently facing and finding actual change as difficult to come by as you…

VERY GOOD 1976 film, cleverly written and produced, depicting role of television news.

Brilliant and probably more relevant today than when it was made. News-as-entertainment and news-as-outrage-machine leads to some terrible places.

Did not watch this movie.

Pacing and dialog from the mid-'70s (ugh), but, ultimately, well worth it for the spectacular critique of "America stuck in a slump." Hmm...why does that sound so familiar...? Lots of insight into where we've come from, too. Given that…

this movie doesn't come alive until the second half, when Beatrice Straight, rivetingly, shows up to condemn William Holden for his unfaithfulness to her, and then when Ned Beatty delivers a succinct, and definitive, description of the way…

Anyone thinking this film is 40 years too old obviously voted for Trump.

I would give the first hour of the movie (leading up to that amazing iconic "I won't take it anymore" speech) 5 stars, but the second half of the movie is more like 1 star and too long and could be skipped entirely!

Scathing critique of television news ( and media in general )- still relevant.

Network, which is satire of the television industry, is seriously weighed down by age (it's now 40 years old) and its heavily pompous dialogue. Despite raising up a few interesting points and questions - The script lacks coherence and a…

This is a great movie. The story is wonderful, the script brilliant, the acting is stunning, the satire cutting and hilarious, and the message serious and profound. " Network " shows how capitalism works in the realm of culture, how the…

The Network is film as prophecy. Disturbing, biting in humor, and stark in depicting not only television, but life as imbued by the constant lure/lull of the screen (any screen will do). The only thing I'll say of the ending is that it's…
