As he travels the country helping parents and children cope with neurological disorders, Dr. Robert Melillo is always asked one question; Why? Why are autism rates exploding? But an equally important question always follows- What can we do about it as a society - and what can I do to help my child?

In this candid, research-based, practical book. Dr. Melillo presents the latest scientific explanation for how we got here and proven, drug-free strategies that parents can employ to help prevent, detect, and address the autism epidemic for themselves and their families.

With honesty and compassion, Dr. Melillo explains what the latest scientific research tells us about the role of generic, environmental, and lifestyle factors, dispelling myths and replacing them with the facts. In addition, he presents early warning signs, a prevention plan for parents-to-be, and an intervention program for babies and young children

Dr. Robert Melillo is a university professor and brain researcher with 30 years' experience in treating medical conditions that exacerbate or cause symptoms related to to the DSM-V disorder labeled "autism." Many children and young adults manifesting behavioral and cognitive symptoms of autism are actually suffering underlying physical disorders that are treatable with alterations to dietary intake, immune regulation and environmental stimuli.
Traditional allopathic medicine and their trade unions enmeshed in profit-first financial arrangements with insurance and pharmaceutical companies are only prescribing psychotropic medications that fail to address root medical causes and often add side effects.
A subset of self-diagnosed adults cling to the outdated notion of autism as psychological only, to the detriment of countless people who might be discouraged from scientific investigation of the adverse conditions that may be causing their autistic symptoms. One size does not fit all. This book may be the solution to your mental and physical health problems.

There are no "chiropractic neurologists", only hordes of healers with dubious expertise happy to take the money of desperate parents. The science behind these "Brain Balance Centers" is hogwash. I wish the library could carry less of this kind of mendacious and harmful book.
