Samantha McDonough cannot believe her eyes or her luck when she discovers, tucked inside a 200 year old book of poetry, a letter almost certainly written by Jane Austen. The letter offers a clue to what could be one of the most important literary events of modern times: an undiscovered novel by Jane Austen. Discovering the manuscript in the centuries-old home of the handsome yet stern Anthony Whitaker, Samantha finds herself immediately absorbed in the story of a young woman on the verge of discovering the bittersweet truths of life and love.

An ok read. Very similar to the Pink Carnation series, but not really as well written. The 'manuscript', while entertaining, contained far too much anachronistic language to be believable as Austen, and the plot was closer to Heyer.

Didn't pass the 50 page test for me.

I enjoy most things that remind me of Jane Austen's work. The story within the story was a bit of a cheesefest and it was the ultimate far fetched fantasty find (missing manuscript) but I did like the characters and the adventure of it.

This was better than I thought it might be. Most books that dare to emulate Jane Austen are not very good. But this one (or two, should I say) kept my attention. I actually liked the book within the book best. Great fun!

Discover: An Austen scholar unearths a lost manuscript in an English manor house, with the help of the house's handsome owner.
