Sharpe's Honour is yet another of the TV adaptions of episodes based on the Sharpe series of books. Set in an earlier day, the action is a little more easy going than what we've recently become used to in our video and movie entertainment. None the less, the DVD is thoroughly engaging. I deliberately checked this DVD out after reading the book. And how do the two compare? Well, if it had been ujp to me, I might have done the casting a lttle differently. My Marquesa would have been younger and blonder and totally irresistible. But the Slaughterman is good, even though I would have made him bigger and fatter and with that up-to-the-eyes beard than Cornwelll describes him as having: more of a Bluto type of guy. Pierre Ducos, french spy, is appropriately sleazy and receives his just deserts before the end of this video. As for Sharpe: well ---- Sharpe is Sharpe. Courageous, fearless, chivalrous, with one of those craggy jaws that we expect of a matinee idol. This video's a good way to spend some time in front of the TV screen but these videos should be severely rationed: you don't want to see them all in one weekend. After all, what would there be left to do the other weekends?
