But these agents are feared-by a cabal of conspirators with only one weapon- to blind the psychics to the evils all around them. Months ago Sarah Gallagher woke from a coma with psychic abilities she couldn't control. They changed her life and cost her the man she loved. And now, someone is playing games with Sarah's mind. It begins with Sarah's home being destroyed by fire-an act of arson that draws novelist Tucker Mackenzie into Sarah's confidence. But he has other reasons for pursuing a woman who can see what others can't. So does a mysterious enemy intent on eliminating Sarah, and everyone she cares about. Because it's only a matter of time before her visions lead her and Tucker to a secret many will kill to hide. Only then will they begin to discover the scope of a terrifying conspiracy so deep and complex they can trust almost no one.

I have always loved Kay Hooper's books. I read this and was lost. I did a little research and discovered that it is part of a new series: A Bishop Files Novel. The First Prophet is the first book in the series and A Deadly Web the second. Reading both as one makes a lot more sense. That is the only way to find out what is going on. The plot and what is happening to psychics is uncomfortable. I do look forward to reading future books in this series, though I will be careful to read them in order. I am hoping that with a follow up of several characters and retrieval of some lost that it will become much more enjoyable. Since The First Prophet was published in 2012 and A Deadly Web in 2015 (but none after that), I am wondering if she backed off on this series after getting unfavorable reviews. She did mention Haven in one of the books. Maybe she means to merge this in with that series.

Very unsatisfying. Seemed to start in the middle and end without resolution.

I like Hooper's books but she keeps repeating the same formula over and over. In this one they spend so much time running from "something" and she mistakes confusion for thrills. I thought the ending was much better than the rest of the book but overall it was just average
