Easily one of the greatest and most memorable debuts from the post-punk era. Still an incredible listen today.

This is a reissue of the England post-punk band's 1980 debut. I'm not even sure whether to call it post-punk, but it's from that era and takes punk's energy and freedom in much darker and more experimental directions. The band called it "tension music," while their drummer described it as "the sound of the earth vomiting." There are elements of metal, prog, industrial, punk, avant-garde noise, and post-punk. It has a very metallic sound (like their contemporaries in Joy Division and PiL) without being metal. But it is heavy. "Wardance" is probably the closest they had to a hit. This reissue includes 4 bonus tracks. Bassist Youth went on to produce a bunch of bands, including U2, Depeche Mode, the Verve, and Kate Bush.
