Just try to resist this comical -- and infectious -- cautionary fable that will have even bedtime-avoiders gladly snuggling up for a nightly challenge.

A yawn can land you in your pj's and under the covers before you can blink and say "Baa baa black sheep." So clamp your mouth shut and look away from your sleepy dog, stay away from your cuddly blanket, and whatever you do, don't think of baby orangutans stretching their long arms out for a snuggly hug. Otherwise, you might find your mouth opening wide and letting out a great big yawny yaaaaaawn -- hey, you were supposed hold it in! A hilarious read-aloud that is so much fun, kids will beg for it again and again, whatever the consequences.

I love this book! As others have said, it is so hard not to yawn while reading this book, or even looking at the title. I would recommend this book to anyone, and dare them not to yawn.

We liked the humour in this story. The boy does not want to yawn and be put to bed, but he keeps thinking of things that make you yawn like counting sheep and by the end has been put to bed. We would recommend this book to a friend.

Not ready for bed? Well here are some tips for you. Prevent that yawn by avoiding all snuggle things, lullabies, and visual reminders. Most importantly, don't let mom see!

Each yawn is depicted with a wide-mouthed face, and while the style seems unrefined, it lends itself well to these funny, bold expressions.

Like the narrator suggests, yawns are sneaky, but the book is too. As it describes these ways to escape bedtime, the little boy gradually succumbs, until finally he lets out one huge double-page spread of a yawn. Likewise, children will get pulled along, provided the parent supplies some big yawn sounds of course.

We liked this book because it was hard not to yawn while listening to the story- mom yawned lots during this story- we liked all the things that the boy did to not yawn and he went to bed anyways!
