So his first movie was distinct because it raised an issue that really no one had talked about - shark finning. He brought to light both the value of sharks and the horrible practise. This movie however, focuses on the much broader concern about the acidification of the oceans, climate change, etc. This makes the movie more similar to others like Blue Planet (BBC), David Suzuki, etc. While this does not discount his message it makes it much harder to direct change and the need for individuals action - it becomes the larger discussion of national politics and global resource development and use.
The one aspect I did find interesting was his critical look at Canada's oil sands development but when he was referencing legislation proposed or defeated it was very difficult to place it contextually as it didn't subtitle any dates.
