Rapunzel is a difficult girl to care for. She obsesses over her hair, is demanding, and worst very desirable, something many a mother fears will lead to trouble. Rapunzel's mother may not be her real one, but the witch truly adopts her, and is very protective. So, she does "what any mother would do", which amusingly equates to, locking her daughter in a tower. The next title in this series of funny fractured fairytales features Dame Gothel, sole "jailor" of Rapunzel. Of all the fairytale villains who have given their own version, she is the only one that actually sounds sincere. While there is plenty to laugh at, we can't help but feel sorry for her in the end. Some clever jokes and odd occurrences keep it on the right path though. Over-proportioned heads emphasis each characters kooky expressions compared to their normal ones. Bright colours shift to a darker set while Rapunzel is trapped, and then return when she has left the nest. Included in the back are some questions to get kids thinking. What makes this title so enjoyable is the overall concept. The witch ends up trapped herself because a whimsical woman wanted some radishes which led to some radical reasons and reasoning.
