A Centaur's Life swings on a pendulum between pure fanservice without basis, and genuinely thoughtful questions about what life would be like for a centaur living among more humanoid monsters. Nothing makes this more clear than the very first chapter, in which the young Himeno worries about the design of her intimate parts, when the thought of intercourse arises. The concern itself is valid, but how the author goes about resolving her concerns is where it falls into pretty baseless fanservice (most girls do not compare). This objectified introduction establishes the vibe for the whole volume, always coming first in mind, despite some decent character stories otherwise. Both friends and family are a constant presence in Himeno's life as she grows, laughs, and struggles with her concerns (these include those of the mind, body, future, etc.). These characters already receive some attention too. The creator shows a keen interest in smaller details, like clothing made for these creatures (which are on display in chapter feature notes). While it is clear that Murayama uses references, he struggles to portray horse proportions, and feasible horse movements consistently. If you should make it past A Centaur's Life's questionable opening, you may find something enjoyable.

This manga is a cute and strange story, involving a different version of humans and their society.
It revolves around the life of Himeno, a young centaur, and her friends. With a new twist on school manga's, A Centaur's Life is a joy to read and will bring an adventure with every page turn.
