From Library Staff

A Beautiful Darkness is a beautifully dark anti-fariytale that is cute, macabre and whimsical all at the same time. Definitely worth the read.

A cute and macabre take on "Lord of the Flies" - but with fairies. A bizarre combination that works well and leaves the reader thinking, if not slightly disturbed.

Beautiful Darkness is beautiful to look at with an fantastic concept. The art is something in and of itself! There is a unique mixture of innocence and brutality that made the characters and situation interesting, but I felt like it was lacking a strong sense of plot.

Very 'Lord of the Flies', a dark story told with a fairy-tale look. Leaves a lot of details up to the reader to figure out (or wonder about).

The art is great, but it's really dark. I think older teens might like it. Do the little people represent parts of the dead girls conscious? It's strange that one would go to live with her murderer.
