"New broadcast and NFL films-inspired presentation shows the game in a different light. Evolved player and coach models make personalities appear more realistic, and additional camera angles and player celebrations capture the most kinetic moments of football. In the NFL, it is very clear that defense wins games. A great example of this was the stomping and near shut out performance the Seattle Seahawks and their defence with the appropriately named "Legion of Boom" put on the Broncos in Super bowl 48. Unfortunately in Madden NFL's now 26 years of history, playing on the defensive end of the ball just seemed like a never ending chore, until now. Madden 15 is quite possibly the greatest Madden to hit the shelves yet. The defense has been improved drastically from the player physics, to decision making, to coverage, I could go on but I think you get my point. When a user controlled player is in pursuit of a ball carrier the user now has three options available. They can either perform a hard tackle by pressing the X button when close to the ball carrier and the tackle cone is being displayed [which increases the chances of forcing a fumble (is also a substitute for the traditional "hit stick")]a diving tackle by pressing the X button when not in close range and the tackle cone is not displayed, or the new conservative tackle by pressing the A button; which allows the user's controlled player to tackle the ball carrier more affectively while reducing the risk of a broken tackle. In Madden 15 their are a ton of different modes to dive into, both new and returning from past installments. The Practice mode is where players can choose the team they would like to control as well as the team they would like to practice against. Users can work out their offensive and defensive schemes or just overall improve their game by practicing against different scenarios. The new Gauntlet mode, allows players to progress through a series of different drills and scenarios and must complete as many as possible only being allotted 5 "lives". Connected Franchise mode makes a return with it's online and offline modes allowing you to control specific players, coaches or owners of your favourite team(which allows you to control that team) and guide them through normal NFL seasons going head to head against either CPU or (in online mode) join leagues and compete against real players in hopes of reaching the ultimate goal: a Super Bowl championship. Ultimate Team also returns for its third straight year. In this game mode players can build a dream team just like fantasy football but this time, they play with there team and get to build them from the ground up. Unfortunately matchmaking is a nightmare, it's difficult to find opponents and the ranking system needs a lot of improvement as the matchmaking only sets players up based off of their skill level instead of their team's overall rating which plays a huge factor in whether or not a team will win. Luckily Ultimate team is what keeps people purchasing as well as playing EA Sports' games every year as EA constantly adds a cornucopia of new content from new players with higher overalls, to new solo challenges to season/holiday themed promo content. This keeps players wanting to log in almost daily to make sure they are up to date with new content. Solo Challenges allows players to take the team they built from the ground up and face off against A.I. controlled teams varying in difficulty, rewarding players with coins (which is in game currency used to buy players or other items from the in game "auction house"). Lastly Online Head to Head has been improved with better and quicker matchmaking allowing players to compete against one another using their favourite NFL teams with up to date rosters and a large variety of offensive and defensive playbooks including all 32 teams personal playbooks as well as ton of legendary coaches' play books from Vince Lombardi to John Madden, himself. Some defensive books include the very popular 3-4 and 4-3.
