There's more mumbo than jumbo in this genre-exploding novel from Ishmael Reed. It's one of those books that is sort of an island unto itself. Eschewing traditional plotting, style, and characterization, "Mumbo Jumbo" blithely jumps around, embracing everything from voodoo to the blues to Warren G. Harding to Ancient Egypt to the Knights Templar. If this doesn't make any sense, I'd just tell you to pick it up and judge for yourself. Includes illustrations.
