A thirty-something single mother whose boundless potential was squandered through a series of failed relationships and a misguided effort to help her younger sister succeed in life finds the fruits of her labors finally coming together in this dark family comedy. Back in high school, the future looked pretty bright for Rose Lorkowski (Academy-Award?-nominee Amy Adams of THE MUPPETS, THE FIGHTER); not only was she the cheerleading captain, but she was also dating the star quarterback. Flash forward a little over a decade, and Rose is working overtime in hopes of getting her son into a better school. Her sister, Norah (Golden-Globe?-winner Emily Blunt of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA), is still living at home with their father, Joe (Academy-Award?-winner Alan Arkin of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), a failed salesman whose penchant for jumping into get-rich-quick schemes has left the family without a financial net to fall back on. Taking the advice of her married lover (Steve Zahn of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID), Rose gets into the business of crime-scene cleanup. Sure, it's not the most glamorous job in the world, but death is a fairly profitable business. As the money stars coming in, Rose and Norah finally begin to experience the closeness of sisterhood that has eluded them all these years while also providing their family with true security.

It was ok, I thought it ended rather abruptly. I was left asking "What now?" at the end? But I did enjoy the banter between the two sisters. Crime scene cleaning is a messy business, indeed!

True life struggles for some - Naively used by man, she get's her act together while trying to balance work, life and family.

Great movie.

Genial, soft-core, irreverent, funny and typically Hollywood in that it doesn't take itself too seriously. No spikes of emotion - all's smooth going but that's ok.

Interesting movie. Was surprised I hadn't heard of it at all. Like real life, a black comedy that won't appeal to everyone but watch the interview with the 2 women who do this job.

Draggy in spots, good story line not quite sure why it is listed as a comedy. Good Cast that needed a better script writer. Brief Nudity, and sex scenes , Definitely not a family movie.

In 2016, it seems crazy that a movie starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin could get practically no attention, but in 2009 this quiet charmer about a woman finding her true calling as a crime-scene cleaning specialist slid under the radar. Featuring really lovely performances from the excellent cast, “Sunshine Cleaning” is perfect for fans of dramedy about family life.

Rated 1/10. Stopped watching after the guy blew his head off. How can this be turned into a comedy? No thanks.

Sweet & simple movie about an average single mom trying to stay sane & make a better life for her 8 year young son. Great cast, especially little Oscar.

Quirky little film. Good for a cold Sunday.

A slow movie with a boring storyline. Save your time.
