For too long so-called education reformers, mostly billionaires, politicians, and others with little or no background in teaching, have gotten away with using standardized testing to punish our nation's youth and educators.

Now, across the country, students are walking out, parents are opting their children out, and teachers are refusing to administer these detrimental exams. In fact, the "reformers" today find themselves facing the largest revolt in US history against high-stakes, standardized testing.

More Than a Score is a collection of essays, poems, speeches, and interviews--accounts of personal courage and trenchant insights--from frontline fighters who are defying the corporate education reformers, often at great personal and professional risk, and fueling a national movement to reclaim and transform public education.
Along with the voices of students, parents, teachers, administrators, and grassroots education activists, the book features renowned education researchers and advocates, including Diane Ravitch, Alfie Kohn, Nancy Carlsson-Paige, Karen Lewis, Carol Burris, and Mark Naison.

More than a Score is a page turner! The interviews and stories by teachers, parents, students and administrators give the reader an overview of how standardized testing has impacted our education process. Jesse has outlined a brief history on testing that gives a foundation to understand the dilemma faced by teachers as well as the students who are forced to take them. It is a book filled with creative problem solving and the practice of civics - something that our proponents of testing do not address.

Billionaires shout out nonsense, claiming to be educational experts because they built companies on software piracy [Microsoft and Gates], or squeezing foreign companies and workers of as much as possible, while doing food drives for their employees by their employees [Walmart and Carrie Walton] or destroying the political system and legal system [the Koch brothers], the real educators, such as Ms. H., need to be listened to. [Furthermore, those who offshore jobs destroy the educational futures of all Americans!]
