I like this author, Mark Hyman. The book is well organized and well written. He basic theory is to eat the good fat and avoid the bad fat. This will give your organs the oil they need to function without causing cholesterol in the body or unwanted body fat. He says it is good to purchase raw nuts and seeds. The nuts and seeds should be soaked to reduce lectins, phystates and enzyme inhibitors. Ground Flaxseed is excellent for fibre. He says it is important that your Omega 3 (fish oil) is higher than your Omega 6 (vegetable oil) intake to avoid problems in your body. He has great ideas of how to decrease the inflammation in your body. Sugar should be avoided. Sugar causes a lot of inflammation in your body. He has great ideas about how to reverse liver damage. He has a chart which summarizes good sources of fat. He recommends Olive Oil (OO) OO has powerful antioxidant properties. OO is good for your heart. OO balances your gut bacteria and reduces ulcers and reflux. OO is good for your brain. Palm Oil (PO)has some negative side effects. PO should be avoided. Coconut Oil (CO) is recommended by Mark. Be sure to buy the right type of CO. CO should be virgin, cold-pressed, unrefined. CO should not be bleached or deodorized. CO is an antibacterial. Artificial Sweeteners, Refined Vegetable Oils should be avoided. Processed foods with MSG, additives, dyes, preservatives should be avoided. Beans should be non-GMO. Herbal Tea and Green Tea are good for the body. Hot Lemon Water is good for detoxification. He has a great www you can go to.

This is an annoyingly long audio version of an infomercial filled with pseudo science and plain quackery plus self promotion of Hyman's marketing. If you follow his program you will quadruple your food bill with exotic ingredients that are difficult to find.

Much of the info. is useful, but many of his books say the same thing. So if you read one, you read the same info. again. It is a bit annoying. I guess it is for marketing purposes?

Very well written nutrition book, the information is so different from we have been told the last 30 years it is hard to wrap my head around it. He gives good outlines as to how to do the program and the whys and the hows. Will need notes when going to buy groceries and the recipes it is not how mom told you to cook.
