I liked the book, lots of historical facts, texture and insight into what life was like post WW-not a party for anyone. The female main character got to be something more than girlfriend and wife, led her own life, came into her own talents, learned to trust herself.

What I really find valuable in this writer's books is the amount of effort she puts into research to fill out the story-line. In this case it's the masks made for wounded servicemen at the end of WW1 - and if you google the subject you can find many photos of the incredible difference the artists made in designing and fitting these masks. It's incredible. Her research adds so much depth to her story-lines in each of her books and for me, that's what sets her apart.

While I enjoyed Brockmole's 'Letters from Skye, I found that the characters in this book weren't very well-rounded and the plot seemed a bit old. Still, it was a light, entertaining read.

I adored this book and even after many months the thought of the masks keep returning. A wonderful read!

A well-woven and enjoyable story, although it progresses a little slowly and reads a bit like a Lifetime movie at times. Overall an easy read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction/light romance.
