A lovely look back at her life before, during and after her marriage to a rancher, Peter Butala, whose death came in his 70's and the after-effects of which the author is slowly dealing with. She talks of loneliness, memory and roots. A good book.

Where I Live Now is Sharon Butala's memoir on widowhood:
Written in her usual soft spoken style , it speaks of her pain ,the way most of us feel it.
Tediously, without flashing lights of melodrama.
It joins a growing body of work on the subject: Joan Didion'sThe year of Magical Thinking:the gold standard on this subject.
Joyce Carol Oates' On Being a widow and Diane Rehm's On My Own are also different voices, each with a unique perspective on this special loss.
Each is well- written, while giving the rest of us a glimpse of what awaits us /or for those who are already there- recognition .
