Very nice and eye opening film about human to human and human to animal relations. The film and all the James-Bob books are a real heart-warming treasure.

This is a sweet movie to watch. the cat Bob is adorable and the prime character is sincere, loving and caring for animals and people in general. Troubled with addiction and rejection by his father and his family. He find our own path of liberation and freedom of Drugs. Good ending too.

Yes, Bob is fantastic. I love cats even more since I know this lovely, unique character. The movie is very good, it gained the title of "Best British Film Of The Year" in 2017. The cat protagonist in it is BOB himself. You can find funny, enjoyable details about Bob in the book: "Bob No Ordinary Cat", which I purchased from Chapters-Indigo, and I am re-reading it now, so much I enjoy it. I enjoy all books of the Man-Cat duo, the "Two Musketeers," as James calls his team - I especially enjoyed when James tells in the "Bob No Ordinary Cat" book that in the street Bob coolly gave a soft, lightning-quick whack on the nose of a bull terrier dog, who wanted to taste his treats, and the dog was so stunned it backed off. On Youtube you can find a dozen good live videos of the James-Bob duo, and in one of them James, the former homeless says that Bob has bought him a house with his international success. Thumbs up to the Bob series. I never get tired of watching the James-Bob videos on Youtube. James said in one of his books that most people he met are good, but there are always 1 percent of persons who are not. I agree with him. I just watched a video of the James-Bob duo on Youtube and was amazed at the aura of that marvelous cat Bob, and under the video was written 7,500 thumbs up and 70 thumbs down. That's the 1 percent negative folk. The book "A Gift From Bob" gives us a true and gripping view of what life on the streets of London is like and especially, around Christmas. James is a nice person, who has fallen out from society as a child, because his parents divorced and re-married and so James has become an "alien" in his own "family." James' stories teach us about human relations and the importance of love, which he finally got from a similarly outcast but wonderful street cat. Two thumbs up for the James-Bob film and books.

So glad I found this film, so irritated there were no subtitles available. Yes, it's English speaking actors, but can Americans translate even when actors speak directly to camera? No, & I'm no stranger to this speech, however I've always be able to say, 'please repeat'. It was almost a foreign language.

BOB is fantastic. This is an excellent testament to the suffering of/with drug users. What I did not recognize was my actual sighting of drug users & homeless on UK streets during my travels there, even visiting these same streets, from 2004 to 2016. I agree young viewer likely needs to have some maturity, it's definitely not Disney. If one is going to visit the UK, this is not a bad primer.

A moving, sweet and wonderful movie with a happy ending. Absolutely worth watching! The main character is a great actor and the cat is brilliant.

Wonderful, for adults

Young drug addict meets cat, and thereby hangs a tail (yes, pun intended). Wonderful human-interest story. Great acting by Luke Treadaway but the cat steals the show every time he's on. Definitely recommended.

Heartwarming and based on a true story, but I'd recommend reading the book first since the movie leaves out quite a few details. Note: this is not a family-friendly movie (the scenes of drug use might be disturbing for young children).

I saw many good films this year but this one sticks in my mind. It has grit, it has charm, it isn't dumbed down and it has BOB! This is based on a true story about a man (James) who is trying to get clean from a drug addiction. Along comes a feral cat (Bob) who is in need of shelter. James discovers that taking care of Bob's simple needs helps him to be more careful with his life.
The real Bob stars as Bob and it has a fun cameo by the author, James Bowen of the book of the same title.
The film won Best British Film at the U.K. National Film Awards on 29 March 2017.
