Wonderful book and wonderful movie. Surprised that Bob played himself. Unusual cat but orange cats always seem to be different. SPOILER ALERT - did anybody else notice Bowen buy a signed copy of the book and exclaim something like " it's just like living my life " as he darted out of the shot Ala Hitchcock

A beautiful, heartwarming true story with great characters who you love for their flaws and their resilience.
James is a drug addict who has been disowned by his family due to many failed recovery attempts. We meet him at a curve in the road and with small acts of kindness from his community colliding at just the right moments, he is able to change his life.
Bob of course, deserves equal top-billing as James' gorgeous, furry friend. He nails his scenes and his eyes are absolutely hypnotising.
Suitable for ages 10 and up.

I found the story drew me in. Unconditional love helps heal old wounds and helps the lead characters bounce back.

A heart warming, whimsical movie, worthy of anyone’s viewing time. I actually enjoyed the movie more the second time round than the first time. At first I did not take to the quirky character, Belle played by Ruta Gedmintas, however as her character gradually “unveils” through the movie, I began to realise she takes the "glass half full", eccentrically happy approach to life to “appease” the heartbreak in her past life. Luke Treadaway’s sympathetic portrayal of James was admirable and as for Bob the cat; no “ring in” cat could take “Cruisy” Bob’s place for the busy London scenes in the movie!
The callous scenes where James’s father, Nigel & his wife Hilary & daughters appeared made me “wince”. The story line strayed from the book where James’s stepmother was portrayed in a much more sympathetic light, having more compassion for James than his own father.
Overall a highly recommended “true story” movie with a HAPPY ending and you don’t have to be a cat lover to enjoy this one!
I can’t understand why this movie did not appear in the “big name” movie theatres, it’s overall high ratings left the sleazy Fifty shades darker movie for dead, and yet fifty shades saturated the main movie theatres at the same release time as A Street Cat named Bob which sadly, to the loss of the viewing public, was ignored.
The sound track to this movie is worthy of mention too, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the music on compact disc much more than listening to the music in the actual movie

I was very disappointment with this DVD. It has no Closed Captioned or subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. It's illegal and prejudiced to sell to Canada and USA because it came from U.K.

An inspiring treat, suitable for families as well (many lessons here)! The real Bob plays "Bob" as an added bonus. True) story of a young man on his journey to overcome drug addiction and the stray cat he adopts, whose unconditional loyalty helps him get through each day. The British healthcare system is also a HUGE factor in his recovery, in stark opposition to how he would be treated in the U.S. where, sadly, it's doubtful he would have had much of a chance at recovery.

I read this book when it first came out & really enjoyed it on many levels. When I heard they were making a movie I doubted they could accurately portray 'Bob' the cat since he is such an unusual cat. However...Bob played Bob!....so it was amazingly accurate. I have to say the only drawback is having to listen to James Bowen ( or the actor who played him) busk on London streets. No wonder he didn't make any money until Bob came along. The best thing is that one gets an idea of what it is like to try & overcome addiction & also how the British health system treats addicts. And the movie almost exactly follows the book....for once. Well done!

A heart-warming, feel-good film about a recovering drug addict on the streets who finds hope and encouragement to change his life for the better from a stray cat he adopts and names Bob.

Thumbs up for Bob the Street Cat. As a plus, the film is starring the real Bob the Street Cat in the fluff.

Enjoyable film, but Bob's acting chops are a bit limited, except when he's trained to jump on his master's shoulders. Great real-life story.
