A fun little family film based on the bestselling memoir and its sequel. Not quite a Disney production but it's entertaining and features the real Bob as himself in most of the scenes.

While some scenes are redundant, you don't seem to mind because Treadway does a smashing job of drawing you into his character's life (as does the actress who plays a neighbor). You just root for them. I too found it a surprisingly engaging film about how people deal with various types of loneliness and despair, as they seek some semblance of normalcy in their lives. Just give it a go.

Mostly a story about the human and the cat. Has numerous cat POV shots in the film. Bob plays himself in the film. No subtitles on DVD; had to suffer through some of the accents. Got the gist of the story.

Ultimately heartwarming story of a busker drug addict who's trying to get clean and takes in a very companionable stray cat at a low point when he really needs to reach out and re-engage with life. Presumably not typical of the average addict's experience but a personal tale of this one person's relationships (especially with Bob the cat) that lift him back up. The music is actually pretty good, considering it is written for this film, and Luke Treadaway performs it well and is very engaging (as is Bob, who appears as himself throughout the film). Not for very young children because the addict and drug references can be pretty heavy.

Even though this might have been a great story, I could not understand the actors because they all had such heavy accents and there was no "closed caption."
I stopped watching after about 10 minutes.

I tend to be drawn to dogs and keep my distance from cats, but this movie still managed to warm the cockles of my heart. The film is based on the adult nonfiction book of the same title. It is unrated, is pretty wholesome overall, but does contain references to drug use.

a lovely story. Lots of laughter and crying. So heartwarming.
Warning: the story line is not for children, in spite of how charming Bob is.

I love this story! Must be the coolest cat in the world. Even people who don't like cats should get a kick out of this one.

Wonderful book and wonderful movie. Surprised that Bob played himself. Unusual cat but orange cats always seem to be different. SPOILER ALERT - did anybody else notice Bowen buy a signed copy of the book and exclaim something like " it's just like living my life " as he darted out of the shot Ala Hitchcock

A beautiful, heartwarming true story with great characters who you love for their flaws and their resilience.
James is a drug addict who has been disowned by his family due to many failed recovery attempts. We meet him at a curve in the road and with small acts of kindness from his community colliding at just the right moments, he is able to change his life.
Bob of course, deserves equal top-billing as James' gorgeous, furry friend. He nails his scenes and his eyes are absolutely hypnotising.
Suitable for ages 10 and up.
