This is the story of the people who lived for thousands of years in Australia's deserts. They comprise vast seas of sand and spinifex encompassing an area of Central Australia large enough to contain the British Isles twice over. In these areas known as the Gibson, the Great Sandy Desert and the Great Victoria Desert people lived for more than 40,000 years, and adapted to survive in one of the harshest environments known to man. The Aborigines who lived in these deserts consisted of many tribes with names that were created long before English became a language. They were the Pitjandjara, Aranda, Walbiri, Luritja, Pintubi and many others. The Pintubi is the story of one of the last groups of desert people who made contact with Europeans in 1932 and the impact it had on their lives. Episode 3 - Fatal Incident For centuries the Pintubi had been nomads, a fact that made life on a mission difficult to adjust to. A few decided to leave the mission and return to the desert where they had been born.
