A delightful cozy book store mystery to read while I was on vacation!

I very much enjoyed the main character who has great powers of observation and organization and doesn't realize while others may not appreciate her comments based on those two characteristics.

I did not enjoy this book at all. I found the plot contrived and full of cliches. I also disliked protagonist Gemma Doyle immensely, which is a problem compounded by the fact that Gemma is also the narrator so their is no avoiding her in this book.

I will read no other books in this series. In fact, I disliked this book so much I am questioning whether I will read other books by this author in her Klondike Mystery or her Constable Molly Smith series; I have been lukewarm on these latter two series and this Gemma Doyle book has almost entirely (or perhaps just entirely) turned me off this author altogether.

Gemma Doyle (a distant relative of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) just notices things. And says so. So not everyone appreciates her talent. I found this title and the sequel (Body on Baker Street) enjoyable - the plots are above average and the quirky characters fun.

A good first title in a new 'cozy' mystery series that takes place in the New England town of West London. Gemma Doyle, (distant relation of Arthur Conan Doyle), runs a bookshop and Sherlock Holmes curiosity shop and tea room with her friend Jayne. When a customer leaves a priceless issue of the Strand magazine tucked into her shop shelves, Gemma and Jane track down the person who left it--and find them dead. An easy, delightful read and a series that I'm looking forward to getting into!

This is a fantastic new series! I can hardly wait for the book to be released.
