Not bad by any means. The drama and themes play out interestingly amongst the desire and attraction of the two characters. I am reminded of Peter Bogdanovich, saying how Dog Day Afternoon was a good movie but it had no woman in it. Things are more interesting with a woman and specifically the interworking paradox of desire and the object of desire. This movies had that in spades. At times it seems to have been based off a young adult novel or something. I am not sure if it was, but some things like the ending, which great seem to be something out of story of that caliber. The sundrenched scenery and environment of the setting are a great contrast to the dark recesses explored by the atavistic space inhibited by the main roles. Overall it has enough for almost everyone to not turn down.

Tension so thick you could cut it with a chainsaw. Two almost unknown actors deliver riveting performances in a smartly made film noir. High quality.

Only reason I gave a two rather than a one was we were curious how this pathetic movie ended. This is a dark movie even when the lights are on. The producer or director is enamored with how the camera is focusing on subjects and scenes. I regret taking the time to complete this movie. If you are smart your will run, not walk away from this one it is really bad. However if you are a disturbed young lady and wonder your own feelings and are confused about life and have many conflicting thoughts along with gremlins creeping into your mind this is your movie. If you are like most strong minded men and have your s---t together then you will find this as too much of a flick movie. I found this troubled young lady more than I could handle and wish I had not spent two hours seeing her find herself.

One of the best movies I’ve watched in years! Outstanding performances. Suspense. A psychological insight on how much a closely tied community can shape (in this movie it is both: nurture and nature) one’s life and behavior. Tragic and chilling.
Highly recommend watching this movie. Four thumbs up!

TINY ISLAND community where two twenty-somethings have lived their whole lives and never met, even though they both frequent the same bar. Hum. What a waste of time and money to make--worse waste of my time. Bad acting, bad script, bad directing, horrible cinematography, horrible-horrible concept. The sex scenes were almost laughable--director and actors may have all been virgins. The "scary bits" weren't, but not lame enough to be funny either. Give it a pass if you aren't going to be under 15 and high when you watch it.

Terrible, awful waste of time. If you feel any empathy for these sociopaths, they have fooled more people than they did in the film.

A torturous love story of a rebellious young woman with a notorious local loner. The ending was ... something!

Location: Jersey, Channel Islands which is part of U.K. territory though only about 20 miles off the coast of Normandy, France.
Molly (Jessie Buckley): 27 years old, home schooled, choir singer, love by smell ... a young Sally Hawkins look alike.

Ratings by pundits:
rogerebert: 3/4
IMDb: 6.9/10
Rotten Tomatoes: 94%
Metacritic: 74%

Jaw-dropping suspense with standout performances by these two newcomers. Definitely the best film I've seen all year!
