Thousands of people escape an alternate timeline where catastrophe has occurred, and enter ours. The habits, slang, worldviews of the Universally Displaced People feel lived in and natural. Like in Station 11, a book is vital, in this case 'The Pyronauts' - a science fiction novel that was never written in our timeline. Big ideas, but everything is at the level of character.
