Competent actors but writing nowhere near its predecessors. Worth it, though, for the opening scene. And for Stephen Merchant, who should be starring in a well-written comedy.

Boring. Not as dark as Dragon, in fact, pretty tame in comparison.

Hard to follow. The originals were much better. Foy is miscast.

Can I rate this unnecessary sequel at ZERO stars? Lisbeth Salander is a complex, rich character, the best and most memorable of recent Swedish literature, which has been twisted and reduced to a false female action hero: half 007, half Matrix trilogy.

The Girl in the Spider's Web betrays the original material, thus betraying the fans. RECOMMENDED FOR: people not familiar with Lisbeth Salander, or the award-winning Millennium series of books. If you don't know anything about the character, and you don't mind huge plot holes in a movie, you may enjoy this empty sequel as mindless entertainment. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR: people who liked "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" concept and themes.

Very disappointing movie in an otherwise great series. So many holes in the plot. Lots of flash/bang but weak story. Foy doesn't play her character as well as the other two actors did but the fault lies in the Director. Don't only take my word for it; although hardly the only criteria to consider, look at the Box Office data. This movie lost money (may have broke even by now), unlike the earlier films-both the Swedish and American takes. This is also not the original author's work but rather the person chosen to continue the story after the author died in a plane crash a few years back. It shows. There are better movies out there; don't waste your time on this one.

I know what the critics thought of this movie, but I honestly feel, that only Disney can make them happy. You will not regret the two hours spent watching this movie. It is dark, thrilling, fast paced and Intense and filled with wonderful cinematography, and superb car chases.. And do I need to mention the stunning performance of Mrs Foy?

I have read and seen all the Swedish films of the first three books by Steig Larsson. I also saw the American version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Surprisingly to me I thought the U. S. version was excellent which is almost never the case when Hollywood tries to reproduce foreign films. I understood this fact better when I learned that the Swedish films were made for television and could not depict all the depravity experienced by Lisbeth Salander. I thought Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara were amazingly good. I found Claire Foy to be Queen Elizabeth trying to pretend to be a "bad ass" Swedish hacker. The film has eliminated every feature of Lisbeth that made her such a unique character. She has been turned into a female action hero. Where is the rage and sexuality that constitute the true Lisbeth??? What is typical of so many films these days is that special effects replace intelligent dialogue and acting. The American representative seems to just wander around waiting for Lisbeth to rescue him and "fix things". The actor playing Mikael Blomkvist has about as much strength of character and appeal as a throw rug. The little boy has more courage and is a better actor than any of the stars. The film is supposedly set in Sweden, but there are so many accents at play that I thought I was in the middle of a meeting at the U. N. Then we have ever changing / disappearing Swedish accent of Ms. Foy. This film is a mess. Actually I should say that I was not surprised by how bad the film was, so I cannot say I was disappointed since my expectations were low and confirmed. Don't bother unless you like special effects to star in a film. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Competently made, but very obviously pointless in the end.

In short, a complex intelligent techno action thriller with better special effects and stunts than "The Girl ..." trilogy. Relative to the book, same vigilante woman/hacker in the thick of mayhem resulting in high body counts, much lighter on the math in RSA prime number encryption but more on the love-hate relationship between the two sisters who were inseparable when very young, separated one day and finally met to air their differences on that fateful day. If you liked the book, you should enjoy this film as well.

The attacker's M.O. matches that of Lisbeth Salander, a local hacker with a history of aggravated assault. If my daughter and I had a message for her... I just want to say, whoever you are, thank you.

"Special Division." Is that an American euphemism for "no accountability and no oversight"?
