What a terrific story! Steinbeck manages to show that through the worst of times it is not necessary to lose one's decency and humanity towards others. One can keep one's kindness despite having unkindness shown to oneself. There are good people in this World.

I listened to this while jogging. The pacing is good for that activity.

I listened to the audio version of this classic, for the most part, and the narrator did a fantastic job in telling this story, especially with the dialect and accents he had to employ to help the story move along. The story is depressing, but it is how it was during the dust bowl. I enjoyed this very much, certainly more now than when I read it in high school.
