This one is one of the longer ones, but is better paced than its predecessor (Goblet of Fire) and as such it doesn't feel as long.

Women are the protectors and fighters, leaders and followers throughout the series. Filled with smart, sassy & sympathetic female characters: Hermoine, Tonks, McGonagall, Luna, Ginny & Molly Weasley and Belatrix who prove that you don't have to be the title character to be a hero (or vill... This is probably my least favourite of the series, even though it's still a fantastic book. It's really dark and moody (Harry is ESPECIALLY angsty in this one) but there's lots of action and awesome characters introduced in this one (Luna Lovegood, my favourite character ever!). Although my least... Read More »

"Hermione Granger and that time Harry was to Emo to do anything, so I did everything in his name - because I am the power behind the throne clearly! Also, P.S. I fought Death-Eaters and won." - I have always had a love-hate relationship with this book in the series and it is because I also thought Harry was just acting so whinny in it. I just was frustrated at him. It wasn't till now - in my late 20s - that I really understood the significance of what was happening to him in that book. The struggle he has to face is a hard one. I don't want to go into details because that could ruin the book, but let it just be known that I get it now. This book changes your perspective of things and that was needed at the time to lead up into the next two books and the upcoming war.

This is another amazing story by J.K. Rowling but the ending is very heartbreaking

I didn’t expect the Order of the Phoenix to be as exciting as it was, considering its length of 800 pages, but I was surprised. I was able to get through Order of the Phoenix pretty fast and found that there was always something happening and there was never a dull part in the story. This book, in my opinion, was one of the first installment in the Harry Potter series to contain more death and have a darker feel to it. I find it very easy to fall in love with the Harry Potter series and all of its characters, and I think most people who read it will think the same way. I give this book a rating of 9/10 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the other books.

'Dumbledore's Army, Cornelius,' said Dumbledore, still smiling as he waved the list of names before Fudge's face. 'Not Potter's Army. Dumbledore's Army.'

'But--but--'

Understanding blazed suddenly in Fudge's face. He took a horrified step backwards, yelped, and jumped out of the fire again.

Harry Potter is spending another horrible summer with his dreadful Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon when a group of evil spirits called Dementors stage an unexpected attack on Harry and his cousin Dudley. After he uses magic to defend himself and Dudley, an act that later gets Harry expelled from Hogwarts, he is visited by a group of wizards and Madeye Moody and the is whisked off to number 12, Grimmauld Place, London. Number 12 is the home of Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, and the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. The Order is a group of witches and wizards, led by Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, dedicated to fighting the evil Lord Voldemort and his followers. The Order is forced to operate in secrecy, outside of the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic, which is headed by the dense and corrupt Cornelius Fudge. Fudge refuses to believe that Lord Voldemort has returned. Harry, who witnessed Voldemort's return the previous June and was tortured and nearly murdered by him, is suffering from nightmares about what has happened to him. He is also angry with those he is close to, especially Ron and Hermione. Harry used magic to fight off the dementors, and since underage wizards are not permitted to use their wands outside of school, he must face a disciplinary hearing at the Ministry. With Dumbledore's help, Harry is cleared by the Wizengamot and permitted to return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
