Once upon a time, in the haunted city of Derry, four boys stood together and did a brave thing. It was something that changed them in ways they could never begin to understand.

Twenty-five years after saving a Down's-syndrome kid from bullies, Beav, Henry, Pete, and Jonesy -- now men with separate lives and separate problems -- reunite in the woods of Maine for their annual hunting trip. But when a stranger stumbles into their camp, disoriented and mumbling something about lights in the sky, chaos erupts. Soon, the four friends are plunged into a horrifying struggle with a creature from another world where their only chance of survival is locked in their shared past -- and in the Dreamcatcher.

Never before has Stephen King contended so frankly with the heart of darkness. Dreamcatcher, his first full-length novel since Bag of Bones, is a powerful story of astonishing range that will satisfy fans both new and old.

Feb 2018......another book from on the shelves in my basement, (an old library discard).......This was a big one, (my children will be glad that they don't have to haul this one away when I croak!) but was an enjoyable read. A good one for a long snowy month!

To say that this one could have been a whole lot better would truly be an understatement. When is Stephen King going to finally retire?

I'm a huge fan of Mr. King's work, and although not in his usual style, a difficult book to put down!

I felt like the pacing was off, and certain plot lines weren't as interesting as the others. I wish he had spent a little more time letting the reader get to know the characters so we cared more.

I'm a fan of Stephen King, so I found this to be pretty good. Long, as usual. At times, the plot sort of stagnated; I was much more interested in what was happening to the 5 friends (Beav, Henry, Pete, Jonesy and Duddits) than what was going on with the wacko military commander and his efforts to contain the alien problem. I wish some of the back story would have been better clarified, and I wish we could have gotten to know the 5 characters a bit better.

Not really one of my favorite books but it was alright to get through.
