Heat LightningBook - 2008
On a hot, humid summer night in Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a call from Lucas Davenport. A body has been found near a veterans' memorial in Stillwater with two shots to the head and a lemon in his mouth--exactly like the body they found two weeks ago.
Working the murders, Flowers becomes convinced that someone is keeping a list--with many more names on it. And when he discovers what connects them all, he's almost sorry. Because if it's true, then this whole thing leads down a lot more trails than he thought it did--and every one of them is booby-trapped.

SummaryAdd a Summary
This is your basic gristled detective story where he figures all these un-attached things to solve the crime.
Virgil Flowers works for the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and despite his long blond hair and usual attire of jeans and aged rock t-shirts, he gets called for a lot of tough cases. And this one is tough. The first body is discovered near a veteran's memorial, execution style with a lemon in his mouth. And the list continues, all with the same M.O. He and his team frantically work to find the connection between the murders and how many more names are on the list. The trail winds down several paths and across several states. At the hub of the trails is the revenge killing for a massacre that happened in Viet Nam years ago. Can he stop it before more innocent bodies drop?
